Strewth, every time I come in here recently I'm losing!
Tough couple of days at 200NL, where I'm not hitting any draws and compounding that by getting myself into some "tight spots". Yesterday I flopped top pair in a 3-way 3bet pot when holding AJs & went with it, only to see villain hit his (admittedly) mega-draw. Today I managed to replicate the scenario with AJs again, this time I flopped 2 overs and the nut flush draw, got it in, and bricked the $600 pot away. There's 2 buy-ins where I could have folded pre-flop for a total of $14.
I was up for the day when that hand started (imagine the scene in "Jaws" when the villain gets a hold of that female swimmer, and she manages to come up for air for a sec. before being dragged down under again!) but thereafter I hardly won a hand in the rest of the session, literally. My play versus bad (70/10 & 50/14) players today was horrible, as I called down too many hands where my top pair was never good. Dropping 2bi+ is a really poor result today, although the baddies did hit every conceivable draw they chased.
On a brighter note I also won my biggest ever pot, just one day after losing my biggest one;
I'd surrendered a few pots to this villain already, and he gave the impression that he was a good, solid player. Here he's just frustrated with me opening so much from the button & decides to make a play after not having the balls to 3bet pf. I flat his donk and then make a bluffy looking bet on the turn, whereby he spazzed out. Hurrah!
